Better late than never, right? A few photos from my trip to Tokyo during Silver Week.
We took the Shinkansen (bullet train) on the way up to Tokyo. Expensive but nice and fast! We left Shin-Osaka station at 9:20 and arrived in Tokyo just before 12.

Also saw Mt Fuji from the window, though the weather was a bit cloudy so it wasn’t the best view.

When we arrived we first went to the hostel where we’d booked a room, but it turned out to be a dirty and rather scary place. It had been the only place where we could find an empty room, because of the long weekend, so we were a little bit worried. But luckily Laura’s Japanese friend saved us by ringing around a lot of hotels and managing to find us a place :)
Gotanda (not a tourist spot, but this is where our hotel was):

Intersection outside Shibuya station, as seen from the second floor of Starbucks:

And then us in the middle of it:

Why does everything need an aquarium attached? Jellyfish up in the sky:

Ueno zoo was actually a bit depressing. It’s an old style zoo with all the animals in cages that really aren’t big enough.

We didn’t want to pay as much for our return fares, so we took an overnight bus. It was actually okay! I was able to sleep a little, which I hadn’t expected, though that didn’t stop me from sleeping most of the next day as well!
I’ll try and come back and write more later about what we did in these places :)
